NO.17 MERCEDES-BENZ 220SE LIMOUSINE
Impy Version (1966-1968) / Flyers Version (1969-76)
Lone Star’s No.17 Mercedes was one of the first 8 Impy models available at launch in April 1966. Based on the W111 Mercedes-Benz 220SE saloon the model had all the Impy special features including jewelled headlights and opening doors, bonnet and boot. The Impy version is usually found in a drab grey colour but received more exciting colour schemes when the casting was altered to become part of the hi-speed Flyers range.
The Mercedes was also issued in Germany and Sweden as a police car (See No.16) with Polizei or Polis printed on the bonnet. The aging model did not become part of the new 1978 Impy Super Cars range. Instead a new Mercedes casting was added to the range (as No.82) based on the W123 model.
