NO.19 VOLVO 1800S

Impy Version (1967-1968) / Flyers Version (1969-76)

No.19 in the Impy range is a model of Volvo’s stylish P1800 introduced in 1961. Unfortunately Lone Star’s miniature didn’t quite capture the sleek lines of the real car, the model's side profile being particularly bad. Lone Star’s model was added to the Impy line-up around June 1967. Earlier that year the P1800 famously appeared on TV screens driven by Roger Moore in ‘The Saint’.

Corgi toys of course had the licence to produce a ‘The Saint’ toy version of the Volvo which is why Lone Star avoided any temptation to market its model as such, despite producing a range of licenced ‘The Saint’ guns and accessories.

The Impy models are usually found in shades of pale grey which can range from a cream-grey to blue-grey. Flyers versions came in several more exciting colours including bright orange.

The aging P1800 was discontinued when the Flyers range ended. A new Volvo coupe, based on the boxy 262C was added to the low-cost Impy Super Models range in 1979.
