NO.36 - lotus europa

Flyers Version (1969-1976)

One of the first new Flyers models (joining the existing range of 16 former Impy cars) was the Lotus Europa which arrived in late 1969. Unfortunately, Lone Star’s model doesn’t capture the finesse of the real car and is rather chunky in comparison.

The earliest versions had the first type ‘disc’ Flyers wheels but these were soon replaced with the spoked Flyers wheels. Models are usually found in yellow or orange with or without racing stripes. An ultra-rare pink version exists but I’ve only ever seen 2 of these.

The Lotus is another model which was included in the rare ‘Silver Flyers’ range and has a blue plated finish.

A simplified version of the Europa went on the feature in Lone Star’s 1978 budget range of cars. (See ‘Impy Super Models’ page).

The full-size Lotus Europa model was in production  between 1966-75
