NO.42 TILCON HALF CAB
Commercials (1971-1974)
An attractive model initially issued as a promotional item for Tilcon. It was based on Lone Star’s existing No.24 Foden Open Truck but fitted with a new half cab based on Foden's unusual S50 design. For Foden's customers the half cab layout gave better engine access, was cheaper to produce and was ideal for work where a passenger was not required. Although it looked the part fitted to this promotional Tilcon tipper, this unorthodox cab design did look a little strange when Lone Star went on to use it on other models in the Commercial range.
I suspect Lone Star produced more S50 cabbed trucks than Foden ever did! I certainly don’t remember seeing many on the roads!
